(1) Industrial Economics

Formerly known as Industrial economy, Industrial Economics is a provincial key discipline with a long history. It is one of the disciplines which have strongest faculty with longest history. It obtained the right to grant Master degree in 1981.

Faculty

This major comprise full range of degrees including Master degree and Ph.D. degree. The research institution of this major has 12 professional teachers. Seven of them are Professors, three are Associate Professors, seven are Doctoral Advisers and twelve are Graduate tutors. Teachers under the age of 50 all have Ph.D. degrees.

The teachers have long engaged in the research on the major theories and practical issues of industrial economy, making significant contribution to the local economy development and enterprise growth. The research institute has been responsible for more than 40 national-level and provincial-level social scientific projects, as well as more than 100 projects for large enterprises and local government sectors.

The teachers have more than 400 publications on top journals and academic newspapers both in China and abroad, including Social Sciences in China, Economic Research Journal, Economist, Industrial Economy in China, Guangming Daily, Communications of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of Agricultural and Resource Economics, etc.

The research institute has been awarded the Five “One” Project Prize, once in national level and three times in provincial level. It also has more than 20 awards including Sichuan Outstanding Scientific Research Achievement Philosophy and social sciences and Distinguished Paper Prize of Provincial-level and Ministerial-level Society. Several teachers have been long in positions like economic adviser, consulting expert and counselor in Sichuan CPC Committee, Sichuan Government, Sichuan Political Consultative Conference, Sichuan People’s Congress, Chengdu Government, etc. Their policy suggestions have been instructed and adopted by leaders in both central government and Sichuan government or other relative sectors.

The institute follows the talents-nurture model, which is “theories combined with practice and research serves for teaching”. It has nurtured more than 300 Masters degree candidates and 150 Ph.D.s. degree candidates Most of them are working in Government’s Economic Management Sectors, Financial Institutions, Large Enterprises and Universities for management and innovation research. Among them, there are tens of outstanding school fellows who made significant contributions to the national, local and university’s construction and development.

This major offers opportunities for graduates study in a wide range of contemporary areas of Industrial Economics, including industrial organization, regulation and competition policy, industrial investment and financing, enterprise growth and industrial environment and industrial economy and structural reform.

(2) Consumer Economics

Economics of Consumption is a branch of Applied Economic. It integrates with Political Economics, National Economics, Sociology and Culturology to study the consumption during the social reproduction process and reveal the socio-economic relationship and its law of development. Meanwhile, it connects with Consumer Behavior, Marketing, Finance and Investment Principle to research the formation, development, operation and realization of household consumption demand under the Market Economy.

Based on the consumption practices of our country’s urban and rural residents, the Economics of Consumption with Chinese Characteristics took example by the consumption development rules of residents abroad, focusing on the exploring of the development of residents’ consumption in our country, the investment rules of one person or his family and their influence made on economic behavior of enterprise.

To promote the study on the Economics of Consumption with Chinese Characteristics is good to the construction of material civilization, spiritual civilization, political civilization and ecological civilization. It can promote people’s living quality with scientific, civilized and healthy consumption. It is good to boost production and circulation to meet people’s consumption demand and accelerate the modernism of society. Besides, it makes theoretical and practical significance on the people-oriented Scientific Outlook on Development, build a moderately prosperous society in all aspects and build a harmonious socialist society. This major has a broad development prospect, because that the talents demand on this major is increasing, and there are more and more people willing to engage in its research. Some CPC Departments and Social Scientific Research Institutions have promote the study on people’s consumption issues and many universities have set up curriculums on this major, so the research is getting expanding and profound.

SWUFE has strong faculty on theoretical economics, applied economics and business administration who works on research and teaching of Economics of Consumption specially. It began to grant Master degree on this major in 2004, and it is the earliest to grant Ph.D. degree on this major in our country.

(3) Circulation Economics

The circulation industry is a pioneer in Socialism Marketing Economy which covers many new business forms, including Wholesale Business, Service Industry, Logistics Industry, Chain Marketing, Agent System, E-commerce, etc.

Faculty

This major comprise full range of degrees including Master degree and Ph.D. degree. There are 3 Professors and 3 Associate Professors on this major in SWUFE. They have published 460 papers in national top journals, 26 monographs, 9 research projects on national level and provincial level, and 15 awards for Outstanding Scientific Research on ministerial and provincial level and 2 for Teaching Achievements.

Kinds of jobs after graduating

The graduates on this major have a broad career prospect, because they will be the senior and middle level specialized talents. They might work in Chain Corporation, Business Wholesale Corporation, Retail Enterprise and Service Corporation for operation and management. They can also work in Administrative Agency of Business, Price and Industry and Commerce for business management. Besides, they can do research or teaching in colleges.

(4) Enterprise Management

This major is a key discipline on provincial and ministerial level, and it is the core major in School of Business Administration in SWUFE.

Faculty

Faculty on this major is excellent. There are 15 Professors and Associate Professors on this major, among them, 4 Doctoral Advisers. They have great achievements on research of Organization Theory, Management of Enterprise, Enterprise Transformation, Strategy and Competition if Enterprise and Management of Small and Medium-sized Enterprise. They have awarded the Second Prize of National Outstanding Teaching Achievement once and Outstanding Teaching Achievement of Sichuan High Education twice.

This major comprise full range of degrees including Master degree and Ph.D. degree. It connected closely with other Universities on the same major both in China and Abroad. It has established friendly, complete and long-term cooperation with Enterprise Innovation Research Institute of Washington State University on research, science, teaching and graduate nurturing.

(5) Tourism Management

This major meets the needs of senior-level management talents as the development of tourism in our country. Guided by the contemporary tourism management theories both in China and abroad and combined with the tourism development, it studies tourism management theory and practice both in China and abroad profoundly. Meanwhile, this major has integrated Management, Economics, Marketing, Accounting Principle, Geographical Science, etc.

Faculty on this major is excellent with Professors and Associate Professors. They have great achievements on research and science. They have tens of awards for scientific and technological advancement. They have hundreds of publications and tens of national-level and provincial-level research projects. Most of their suggestions have adopted by governments.

(6) Marketing

The idea of marketing was originated from America in early twentieth century. As the development and improvement of China’s market economy, marketing ideas, strategy and tool have showed their special value and charm under the contradiction between internationalization and localization. Marketing Management is a applied management discipline, which has nurtured senior and middle talents on marketing management, professional marketing analysis, marketing plan and management consulting for business management enterprises and government sector.

Faculty

SWUFE is one of the earliest leading universities which granted Bachelor degree and doctoral degree on this major in China. It has strong faculty on this major with 4 Doctoral Advisers, 5 Professors and 10 Associate Professors. All of them have rich teaching experience and excellent practical ability.

(7) Human Resource Management

Human Resources Management is the core major in School of Business Administration in SWUFE. It aims at nurturing senior and middle talents on this major with theory foundation and practical operation skills.

This major offered the students several research directions, including Strategic Human Resources Management, Performance and salary management, Human Resources Development, etc.

Faculty on this major is excellent. There are 15 Professors and Associate Professors on this major, among them, 6 Doctoral Advisers. It has established broad cooperation with other Universities, enterprises and public institutions.

(8) Logistics Management

Logistic management is an emerging major integrating with Management, Economics, Engineering and other disciplines.

Faculty

The faculty on this major is excellent in SWUFE. All of them hold the degree of Ph.D., among them, 2 professors and 2 Associate Professors. They have been responsible for 6 research projects of National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 5 accomplished and 1 in process, 2 general projects of Humanistic and Social Science for Ministry of Education and other provincial and ministerial research projects. Under the guidance of them, the students won the first-class reward and the second-class reward at the first national logistics design competition for college students in 2007.

Logistics system planning, including the layout planning of Logistics system facilities, the design and equipment configuration scheme of Logistics system, the requirements analysis and prediction of logistics system, the feasibility demonstration of the investment and financing on logistics construction and regional logistics and economic development planning

3. Logistics enterprise management, including the management and decision-making of Logistics enterprises, the global supply and marketing network management, transport organization and distribution management, optimization Design and implementation of logistics process, Logistics marketing, International Logistics Management, the customs clearance, and the construction of strategic alliance of Logistics enterprises

4. Service science and engineering, including the design and optimization of Service delivery system, service enterprise strategy, the operation management of service enterprise, the construction of services competitive advantage, service quality evaluation and improvement, design and cultural management of service organization, CRM(customer relation management), revenue management, service item management, relationship marketing of services market, Product and service innovation research, service management research and the development research on service industry.
